Barclays has been facing a major outage today, with customers unable to access their online accounts or mobile banking.

The affected customers have taken to Twitter to share their grievances:
@barclays I tried at 7am today to go online. unable to. went to local branch who said they are all offline. manual. cant do anything. atms down. totally without options to do business. They close counters down and leave machines which are now down. Counter staff left to suffer.

@barclays I cannot access online banking with your current problems and need to pay a bill. Can I use my my debit card to pay or is this also affected ?

A spokesperson for the banking giant has told The Independent: “We’re currently experiencing some technical problems – customers are still able to use Barclays Mobile Banking app to check their balance, make and receive payments. We’re on it, and as soon as it’s fixed we’ll let you know.”
