Tory veteran warns MPs are ‘very fed up’ and could defect

Kenneth Clarke the long-standing Conservative MP has spoken out and said, Tory MPs are “very fed up” and could defect to the new Independent Group.

Clarke said to the BBC on Wednesday morning, “Certainly some members of parliament are getting very fed up.

“There are some, I think, not including me who probably are contemplating leaving if the party moves too far to the right and no longer represents what they regard as the mainstream Conservative views they have held for all the previous years.

“I hope that doesn’t happen. I hope it doesn’t come to that.”

It is thought that Nick Boles, Sarah Wollaston, Heidi Allen and Sarah Soubry contemplating to breakaway from the Conservative party, due to frustrations over the handling of Brexit negotiations.

With just 37 days until the UK’s EU departure, the timings of potential defections will not be welcomed by the prime minister.
