Stock markets around the world roiled by coronavirus

Stocks in Asia have lost ground again today as concerns grow over the deadly coronavirus outbreak in China.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 closed 1.7% lower, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ended the day down by 2.65%.

The Shanghai Composite in China remains closed until Monday.

The FTSE 100 followed Asia stock markets lower on Thursday, with the blue chip index falling 0.78% to 7,425.43 in early trading.

The death toll from the coronavirus is rising and it has now spread to every Chinese region.

The FTSE 250 opened 0.46% lower at 21,369.21.

In France, the CAC-40 dropped 1.33% to 5,875.91 while in Germany, the DAX declined 1.34% to 13,166.42.
