Russia recaptures 40% of the Kursk region from Ukrainian forces

Russia has recaptured around 40% of their territory in the Kursk region from Ukrainian forces as Moscow has conducted waves of counter assaults.

A senior military source who is on Ukraine’s General Staff said Russia deployed around 59,000 troops in the Kursk region as Kyiv’s forces made their incursion in the Oblast on 6 August.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Vladimir Putin wants to recapture the Kursk region by 20 January when Donald Trump is inaugurated as the SU President.

The senior Ukrainian military source said, “At most, we controlled about 1,376 square kilometres, now of course this territory is smaller. The enemy is increasing its counterattacks.

“Now we control approximately 800 square kilometres. We will hold this territory for as long as is militarily appropriate.”

The Kursk region has not been invaded by a foreign military power since World War Two which has angered the Russian dictator.

So much so he asked Pyongyang for assistance and some 11,000 North Korean troops are now inside Russia with many in the Kursk region who have been integrated into the Russian forces.

On Saturday President Zelenskyy told reporters, “For Putin, the most important thing is to oust us from Kursk region.

“All these stories, all these indicators, strikes with new missiles, all this is not for nothing. He set this task. I am sure that he wants to oust us by January 20. It is crucial for him to demonstrate that he controls the situation. He does not control the situation.”

The British made and supplied Storm Shadow long-range cruise missile to Ukraine has killed 500 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region.

The Telegram channel Dosye Shpiona said that the Storm Shadow missiles destroyed a sanatorium in the Kursk region of the Russian Presidential Affairs Directorate in Maryino.

Analysts at the Telegram channel said that 33 Russian soldiers were wounded and 18 were killed in the strike and there is officers from the Southern and Eastern Military Districts among those killed.

It has been reported by RBC-Ukraine, the First Deputy Commander of the Leningrad Military District, Lieutenant General Valery Solodchuk was killed.

The Global Defense Corps said that 500 North Korean soldiers were killed in the missile attack and three were wounded.

“The presence of such high-ranking personnel during the post-strike cleanup may indicate that the casualties extended beyond officers and a single general,” they said.
