Following Carlos Ghosn’s arrest in Japan earlier this week, Renault has appointed chief operating officer Thierry Bolloré as the temporary deputy chief executive.

Ghosn heads up the Japanese-Franco alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, and is Renault’s chairman and chief executive.

Renault said that Bolloré would step up to the role because Ghosn was “temporarily incapacitated”.

Meanwhile, Japanese authorities have extended the detention of Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn by 10 days, according to local media reports
