The Rejoin EU Party is pleased to announce a strong performance in yesterday’s Golders Green by-election, showing the party’s clear pro-EU message is striking a chord with voters increasingly disillusioned with Brexit.

Rejoin EU surprised its opponents by finishing in third place with 4.1% of the vote, beating the Green Party and Liberal Democrats into fourth and fifth place respectively, with only the Conservatives and Labour ahead.

It was the party’s best election performance in terms of vote share and the first time that it has finished ahead of either the Greens or LDs in an election.

Rejoin EU Party Golders Green by-election candidate, former MEP Brendan Donnelly, said: “This result shows a clear pro-EU, pro-rejoin message is resonating with an increasing number of voters, who responded positively on the doorstep during a very enjoyable campaign.

“The electorate is coming to realise Brexit was a con-trick of which they were the victims. While we still have much to do to convince electors that re-joining the EU is the only way of reversing the damage done by Brexit, the direction of travel is clear.

“Golders Green marks an important milestone on the road towards eliminating Brexit and all it stands for.”
