Roadside assistance firm the AA has seen their membership base stabilise at 3.19m in the first half helped by the new sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf advert.
The AA said that their membership will be relatively flat this year and growth will return during 2020 due to the marketing push.
Simon Breakwell, chief executive of the AA, said: “In our roadside business, we have stabilised our personal membership base and are confident that this will be broadly flat this year and return to growth next year.”
In the six months to the end of July the AA reported an 8% drop in underlying pre-tax profits to £46m.
Underlying earnings were 2.5% higher at £165m and revenues were up 2.3% to £491m.
Shares were down by 2% after the results.
