Buckingham Palace have announced that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has asked for there to be no gun salutes to mark her birthday.

The Queen said it would be “inappropriate in the current circumstances” for when she turns 94, on Tuesday.

There will also be no Trooping of the Colour for the Queens annual birthday parade in June.

Government buildings have been advised on flag protocol with an acknowledgement that “in current circumstances we are not expecting everyone to be able to follow this advice and you should continue to adhere to social distancing as set out by the government.”
