The pound traded at a two month high against the dollar late on Thursday after European President Jean-Claude Juncker said a new Brexit deal could be done.
It reached $1.2560 on Thursday before dipping back.
It has edged higher in Asian trading hours to around $1.2522, up slightly on the day.
