Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam has been shot and wounded in a raid in Brussels, according to media reports.

Abdeslam has been captured alive in a police operation in the Molenbeek suburb of the city. Over 10 shots were heard and grenades were also used in the operation.

A trace of DNA from Abdeslam was found by the police when they raided a flat in Brussels earlier this week. An Islamist gunman was shot dead by a police sniper as part of the raid.

According to Belgium’s RTBF television, it was “more than likely” that Abdeslam is one of the suspects who absconded after Tuesday’s raid.

Rumours suggest that Abdeslam was planning to carry out another suicide attack in Paris but backed out.

Abdeslam, 26, is a French citizen who once ran a bar in the Belgian capital. He is believed to have escorted the three suicide bombers who blew themselves up at the Stade de Francein November last year. The attack killed over 130 people.
