According to the latest figures the UK manufacturing sector has risen at its fastest rate in six years, with new work intake at its highest since 2017,
IHS Markit/CIPS manufacturing purchasing managers’ index grew in both July and August, according to statistics.
Anything above a level of 50 represents growth in the sector, whilst August and July registered 55.2 and 53.3 respectively.
Rob Dobson, director at IHS Markit said, “The recovery of the UK manufacturing sector gathered pace last month.
“Output expanded at the fastest rate in over six years as new work intakes rose to the greatest extent since November 2017, led by an upturn in domestic demand and signs of recovering exports.”
