At a press conference on Brussels on Thursday afternoon, The European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and Boris Johnson praised the new EU and UK Brexit deal.

Juncker said, “We have a deal and this deal means there is no need for any kind of prolongation.

“This is a fair, a balanced agreement. It is testament to our commitment to finding solutions.

“It provides certainty where Brexit creates uncertainty.”

The British prime minister said at the press conference, “I do think that this deal represents a very good deal both for the EU and UK. It’s a reasonable, fair outcome.

“I hope very much now… that my fellow MPs in Westminster do now come together to get Brexit done, to get this excellent deal over the line and to deliver Brexit without any more delay.

Adding, “Now is the moment for us to get Brexit done and then, together, to work on building our future partnership, which I think can be incredibly positive both for the UK and for the EU.”

Juncker added before he left, “I’m happy about the deal but I’m sad about Brexit. Have a good time.”

The Irish prime minister, Leo Varadkar said at the EU summit, “As things stand, we have a draft agreement between the EU on the one hand and the British government on the other.

“I think it’s a good agreement.”
