The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock has admitted on Wednesday morning that it is “impossible to know” when the third national lockdown will end.
Hancock has refused to offer any date over when the lockdown will end and said, “I’m the health secretary and I haven’t put a timescale on it.”
This comes as Tory Ministers have called for the lockdown to be eased from 8 March.
He told Sky News that England is “not in a position” to start thinking about easing the restrictions as there are still millions of “vulnerable” people that still need vaccinating.
The Health Secretary said, “We will keep the restrictions in place not a moment longer than they are necessary, but we will keep them in place as long as they are necessary.
“These measures that we have got in place that we hope to be able to lift, and we should be able to lift when we have been able to protect through vaccination those who are vulnerable, right now the vaccination is not in a position to do that.”
