Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Yotam Ottolenghi and a slew of other celebrity chefs are throwing their weight behind London Union, a food markets venture.
Owners of the business, Soho Cocktail bar Milk & Honey boss Jonathan Downey and Leopn restaurant chain co-founder Henry Dimbleby, plan to open 16 food markets in London over the next five years. So far, they’ve raised £1m from 21 founder investors and 33 street food vendors.
Downey said: “It’s been brilliant fun, dynamic and creative running temporary markets and we now want to put them on a firmer footing to change London food forever.
“We are creating an environment and business which establishes a sustainable model for some exciting street food traders.”
London Union is set to open three new pop-up markets by this autumn.
