BHS is back
BHS went into adminstration in April this year leaving a pension deficit of ยฃ571m. Despite this the iconic British brand has announced plans to expand their international presence. The plan is to launch in new countries and to open state-of-the-art stores in Qatar.
All of the companies current ranges will continue to be designed in London but the focus will be on providing its fanchise partners with products that are tailored more for the international customer.
BHS has a successful and hugely profitable business internationally and operates fanchise partnerships around the world.
The very first international franchise store opened in 1985, and it currently has 61 stores in 14 countries .
David Anderson, managing director, BHS International said: โOur international business has been operating since 1985 and itโs enjoyed strong growth in recent years. Under the new owners, we have ambitious plans to accelerate this growth, and working closely with new and existing franchise partners we are confident we can do this; since the new International business was formed in June, we have secured agreements with new partners in new territories, and are in discussions with many others.
In the UK BHS has since launched its new online presence, selling its most popular items from clothing to lighting and home furnishing products. The company has also improved its online platform making it easier for customers to order.
