The House of Lords is getting a generous sprinkling of entrepreneurs and executives, upon the latest announcement of new peers.
In fact, almost half of the 22 new peers are best-known for their business achievements.
The Conservatives have appointed 12 peers, including Karren Brady, the West Ham Utd vice-chairman and Apprentice star, and Sir Stuart Rose, former CEO and chair of Marks & Spencer.
Other new Tory peers include TalkTalk CEO Dido Harding, former Tech City CEO and government digital adviser Joanna Shields, RK Mine Finance Group founding partner Michael Farmer, and businesspeople Nosheena Mobarik and Ranbir Singh Suri.
Labour has made Dame Gail Rebuck, chairman of Penguin Random House, a peer, along with two others.
The LibDems have appointed GKN plc PR director Chris Fox as a peer, among five others.
