Stratford station evacuated at peak time

Stratford station was closed this morning as armed police raided the station amid a fire alert.

British Transport Police said officers were called to Stratford station at 9am after a fire alarm went off.

A spokesman said: “As part of the safety procedure the station has been evacuated.

“Officers remain at the scene and it is not yet known what caused the alarm.”

A TFL spokesman added: “The station has been closed due to a fire alert.

“The Jubilee line is suspended from West Ham to Stratford and mainline services from Stratford have been affected.

“It is not yet known when services will resume or what caused the fire alert.”
