Boris Johnson has compared himself to the Marvel comic book hero, The Incredible Hulk saying he will smash his way out of the EU’s “manacles” if no-deal can’t be agreed.

Johnson has yet again said that he will take the UK out of the EU on 31 October and muted that he may well end up ignoring parliamentary legislation to prevent a no-deal by ordering the PM to extend Article 50.

Johnson told the Mail On Sunday he will be meeting with the EU’s president Jean-Claude Juncker on Monday in Luxembourg and, he will also meet with Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator.

The prime minister likened the UK to the Hulk saying Britain is like Dr Bruce Banner, who when angry turns into a green monster Hulk.

He said, “Banner might be bound in manacles, but when provoked he would explode out of them.

“Hulk always escaped, no matter how tightly bound in he seemed to be, and that is the case for this country. We will come out on 31 October and we will get it done.”

“The madder Hulk gets the stronger Hulk gets.”

Stephen Barclay the Brexit secretary told Sky News Sophie Ridge on Sunday, “There has been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes.

“We can see a landing zone in terms of a future deal but there is significant work still to do.”

When Ridge asked Barclay over the prime minister comparing the UK and The Hulk, he said, “The Hulk was a winner and was extremely popular and I’d rather be backing a character and a leader who is The Hulk rather than one who is on the chicken run as Jeremy Corbyn is.”
