“People started freaking out. In about 20 seconds we would have been in the air.”

Heathrow fire
This morning another airport incident caused delays, as a vehicle fire at Heathrow saw the whole of Terminal 1 evacuated.
People were forced to queue in corridors following the fire.
Passengers said they were “appalled” with the chaos in the terminal.
@HeathrowAirport can you tweet an update on the fire and how long we will all be penned in a corridor? pic.twitter.com/uXJ9wXyDQy

A Heathrow spokeswoman said: “Fire alarms were activated in Terminal 1 after smoke from a small vehicle fire on the airfield blew into the building. No passengers were at risk and Heathrow’s fire service quickly extinguished the fire. The terminal is now fully open and staff are helping passengers to return to their journey as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
