China has been accused of not sharing data over the origins of Covid during a World Health Organization (WHO) investigation being conducted by an inteternational team.

The Director General of the WHO, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his concerns on Tuesday and said, “I expect future collaborative studies to include more timely and comprehensive data sharing.”

Accusations of China withholding informtion to the international community have been going on since the outbreak started and over the severity of Covid.

The WHO chief added, “Although the team has concluded that a laboratory leak is the least likely hypothesis, this requires further investigation, potentially with additional missions involving specialist experts, which I am ready to deploy.”

Dr Peter Ben Embarek who is the leader of the WHO mission said it is quite “possible” that cases of coronavirus were spreading across the world much earlier than documented.

The virus could have been in circulation in November to October in 2019 in Wuhan, where the outbreak started.
