The scandal-hit Prime Minister is now just 7/2 to resign this month, according to the Betfair Barometer, as pressure mounts on his position.

Ahead of the release of Sue Gray’s report his odds to face a vote of no confidence in the next week have also slipped to 11/5 after several senior Conservatives have called on the Prime Minister to quit.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak is the firm favourite at 7/4 to be the next Conservative leader, with Liz Truss 6/1 and Jeremy Hunt 15/2.

Betfair Exchange spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “It’s a crunch week for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with Sue Gray expected to release her ‘partygate’ investigation findings in the next few days. The PM’s odds to resign before February have shortened to 7/2 following a weekend filled with more controversy for Johnson.

“According to reports, several senior Conservative MPs have called for the PM to quit and as a result, punters have backed him to face a vote of no confidence by the end of the month, with the odds shortening to 11/5.

“Looking at who could be waiting in the wings to replace Johnson, Rishi Sunak is the 7/4 favourite with the punters to become the next Tory leader, while Liz Truss is 6/1 and Jeremy Hunt 15/2.”
