Italian asset manager Anima Holding is considering Aletti Gestielle and Arca SGR, both Italian investment managers, for potential acquisition deals.
Chief executive Marco Carreri says that Anima is looking at rival companies that have similar business models and that deal talks with a possible target could begin in the autumn.
Banco Popolare, the owner of Aletti Gestielle, intends to merge with Banca Popolare di Milano and may sell off parcels of Aletti during the merger.
Arca is majority-owned by Italian cooperative banks to include Banca Popolare di Vicenza, Veneto Banca and Banca Popolare di Milano, the owner of a 16.8% interest.
Anima has a sales estimate for this year of US$5.6bn (€5bn), according to Carreri.
