Lookers to cut 1,500 jobs and close car dealerships

The struggling car dealership Lookers are to cut around 1,500 jobs and close 12 showrooms, due to a tough car market along with the pandemic.

The Altrincham-based group announced they will shut another 12 sites, either by closing or merging showrooms.

Lookers will be left with 136 dealerships, and will cut costs by £50m a year, the company employs 8,100 people.
