Esther McVey the former work and pensions secretary has announced she intends to stand for the Tory leadership, once Theresa May steps down from the top job.
Speaking with TalkRadio McVey was asked will she stand in the contest to replace May, McVey said, “I have always said quite clearly if I got enough support from my colleagues, yes I would.
“Now people have come forward and I have got that support, so I will be going forward.She said that she “believes in Brexit” and has “beliefs in the opportunities” it could bring.
McVey added May’s departure should be handled in a “dignified and graceful” manner.
McVey said, “We all know Theresa May is dutiful.
“She has worked for public service for many years.”
