EE has chosen to “pause” the sale of Huawei’s latest 5G smartphones over the ongoing tensions between the US and the Chinese tech firm.
Marc Allera, chief executive said EE will not restart sales of Huawei devices “until we get the information and confidence and the long-term security” for their customers.
Since President Trump made an executive order banning US companies from trading with the Chinese tech firm, Google has complied with the order revoking Huawei’s access.
Google has blocked Huawei by supplying their 5G Android operating system to the new devices and phones.
This means that if EE were to go ahead with Huawei’s new 5G smartphones their customers may not “be supported for the lifetime that they’ve got the device” with EE.
