Pierre-Olivier Bouee, the chief operating officer of Credit Suisse, resigned today after saying he had initiated spying of the bank’s former wealth boss Iqbal Khan.
Bouee’s departure will be embarrassing chief executive Tidjane Thiam who will face scrutiny over the scandal.
Following an investigation by Swiss law firm Homburger, Credit Suisse said: “The chief operating officer said that he alone, in order to protect the interests of the bank, decided to initiate the observation of Iqbal Khan, and that he did not discuss it with Credit Suisse’s chief executive.”
Credit Suisse has replaced Bouee with James Walker who has worked at the bank for 10 years.
