Barclays Bank to distance themselves from Duke of York

Banking giant Barclays have become the latest company to distance themselves from Prince Andrew as pressure is mounting over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Barclays said they are concerned over the situation and their involvement with Pitch@Palace which is under review.

A large number of high-profile companies, universities and charities have severed ties with the Duke of York since his car crash interview last Saturday over his friendship with the convicted sex offender Esptein.

In recent months Barclays renewed their sponsorship for Pitch@Palace however, a spokesman told the PA news agency, “Pitch@Palace as an organisation has made an undeniable impact on supporting entrepreneurs and creating new jobs, which is why we are keen to support the programme.

“However, we are concerned about the current situation and are keeping our position under review.”

Earlier today telecoms giant BT called for Prince Andrew to be removed as patron of iDEA, he Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award.

Although Buckingham Palace said Prince Andrew is still the patron of iDEA and there no more to add on the matter.
