Police carried out a search of the station

Service on the Circle Line was suspended at rush hour this morning after reports of a “suspicious person” at Aldgate station.

Police searched the station for the individual but were unable to find them and the station was re-opened.

There are still severe delays in both directions on the Circle Line, and minor delays on the Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Aldgate London Underground station at 8.46am on Thursday, 19 November to reports of a suspicious person.

“A search of the station was carried out, but no-one was traced.

“The station re-opened shortly after 9am.”
