The latest news on the Southern Rail strikes…

The continued strikes on Southern Rail have caused further chaos to commuters.

Southern staff have walked out for the second day of action, commuters have said the situation is “absolutely hopeless”.

The strike action began just a day after the London Underground stopped services for 24-hours over job losses and ticket office closures.

Train services across the capital were hit with hefty delays as commuters were forced to wait outside train stations due to overcrowding.

The problems became even worse due to delays on the Tube’s Circle, District and Hammersmith and City lines. There was a signal failure at Edgware Road.

Aslef’s 1,000 Southern drivers are staging a strike this week for three-days due to the dispute over the introduction of driver only trains.

Passengers took to social media to express their anger with the train services.

Sharron Louise May said on Twitter: “This really is a joke now. Do you have any idea how many other people’s jobs are being ruined because of strikes.”

One user shared an image of the overcrowded stations.
