Sage hit by cyber attack leaving thousands of customer data at risk

Breach reported to the City of London police

Accounting software firm Sage has been hit by a cyber attack which has put personal details of employees of close to 300 firms at risk.

The firm said in a statement: “We are investigating unauthorised access to customer information using an internal login.

“We cannot comment further whilst we work with the authorities to investigate but our customers remain our first priority and we are speaking directly with those affected,” it added.

The breach has been reported to the City of London Police.

Last year, a cyber attack cost TalkTalk customers a whopping £60m. Personal details of almost 157,000 customers was hacked and this led to the company losing 101,000 customers.
