New data revealed
As many UK businesses vie to attract the best candidates, offering bumper pay packets is clearly a strategy that is being taken, with new data from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job board, revealing that key locations across the nation saw standout increases in salary offerings last month.
The findings, which compared April 2017 job market trends with April 2016, suggest that employers across the UK are offering higher salaries in a bid to incentivise eager job hunters. In fact, for candidates that are looking to boost their pay cheque this month, the latest data from CV-Library reveals that the top UK locations for pay rises right now are:
Bristol – Salaries rose by 7.6 per cent
Wales – Salaries rose by 6.1 per cent
Guildford – Salaries rose by 5.7 per cent
Edinburgh – Salaries rose by five per cent
Sheffield – Salaries rose by 4.2 per cent
Birmingham – Salaries rose by 3.7 per cent
Leeds – Salaries rose by 2.3 per cent
Scotland – Salaries rose by two per cent
Cardiff – Salaries rose by 1.4 per cent
Manchester – Salaries rose by 1.4 per cent
Interestingly, London missed out on the top 10, with the city recording a fairly incremental 0.1 per cent increase in wages year-on-year.
Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, comments: “It’s very promising to see that some of the UK’s top locations experienced positive pay rises last month. Clearly, the competition to secure the best candidates is showing no signs of letting up, with companies looking to bolster their ranks with the top talent. Increasing advertised salaries on job postings is just one of the approaches that companies are taking to attract candidates, which is great news for job hunters out their looking for their next opportunity.”
