John Lewis has seen its biggest week in history due to record breaking sales on Black Friday, its sales hit nearly £200m.

Black Friday came to the UK six years ago, after being inspired by the US shopping tradition. Many retailers will discount heavily over the weekend.

During the busiest time on Friday five orders were made a second on the John Lewis website.

Electrical goods were the biggest draw to John Lewis, with sales up 11 per cent year on year, fashion sales were 4.6 per cent higher and the groups Waitrose division also made huge sales of £136.6m last week.
