Police have a placed a 100m cordon on Devell Court around a white Nissan Micra.

GMP said in a statement: Officers are currently at the location and are assessing the car.

“There is a 100m cordon in place around the Banff Road area, as a precaution, and we are asking people to avoid the area.

“An evacuation is being carried out and we would like to thank those in the local community for their cooperation and understanding.”

Det Ch Supt Russ Jackson said about the finding of the car: “This is potentially a significant development in the investigation.

“We are very interested in anything people can tell us about the movements of this car, and who was in it, over the past months.

“We are also interested in any information about who may have had access to the car or who may have gone to and from it.”

Mathew Hunt posted this on Twitter saying: “Evacuation around the Children’s hospital and closures around Oxford Road. Poor car is behind the blue tape.”
