Browse through your old photos and there’s a rare chance that you wouldn’t find a picture of you posing in front of Picadilly Lights, the blindingly bright outdoor advertising display at Piccadilly Circus.

Now Land Securities, owner of the site since the 1970s, is planning to add a new LED screen to the iconic West End Site by as early as Christmas.

The sixth screen will be the first time advertising space has been added since the lights were created in 1908.

Some two people pass through the area every week that has seen Coca-Cola advertise since 1955. The display has existed for more than 100 years, showcasing 50 brands including Carlsberg, Max Factor, Volkswagen and Schweppes.

Rob Jewell, asset management director in the West End at Land Securities said: “Land Securities is thrilled to be launching this new opportunity at one of the world’s most recognised locations.

“Piccadilly Lights is a coveted advertising location which rarely becomes available so we’re very excited to welcome a new brand to the site.”
