Here’s why
For the first time, Make it British is introducing a series of live interactive workshops and demonstrations at its Meet the Manufacturer event at The Old Truman Brewery, London on the 24 and 25 May.
These B2B workshops will run throughout the day on both event days and will include hat making, leather-bag construction, screen printing, pattern-cutting and much more.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet some of the best makers in the UK and watch them in action as well as learningfirst-hand what it takes to produce quality goods in Britain.
Workshops include:
- Award winning milliner Chloe Hayward London
- Leading industrial sewing machine supplier AE Sewing
- Pattern cutting tutor extraordinaire, Jan Bigg-Wither at Design Surgery
- Screen printing experts, the Huddersfield Printing Company
- Ruth Glen, specialist in the design, development and prototyping of leather handbags
Kate Hills, CEO and founder of Make It British explains: “These live and interactive workshops will be both informative and educational. They’re the perfect opportunity to view these craftsmen at work and ask questions in a relaxed, friendly and productive environment.”
Meet the Manufacturer is organised by Make it British, the campaign for the return of manufacturing to the UK.
At this two-day programme there will be expert-led seminars plus a trade show that promises to be bigger and better than ever with around 200 exhibitors showcasing some of the top knitters, weavers, tanneries, leather-goods makers, CMT units and homeware factories in Britain today.
New for 2017 is a dedicated ‘brands hall’ with a selection of creative businesses showcasing their distinct and inspirational labels.
