The latest on the bad weather hitting the capital…

Flooding could hit parts of south-east London tonight as rain continues to pour.

Flood alerts have been issued for many places including Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich and Croydon. The warning comes after storm Angus caused the tides of River Ravensbourne to rise rapidly.

The Environment Agency has said more torrential rain is set to hit for a second time after 9pm tonight, the rain could force the river to burst its banks.

A statement on The Environment Agency’s website said: “Heavy rain has fallen overnight and we have seen the Ravensbourne rise quickly this morning.”

“Sunday will be mostly dry but further heavy rain is expected from 9pm this evening.”

“Further flooding is possible over Sunday night and into Monday morning.”

“At this time we do not expect property flooding.”
