Dr Jenny Harries, who regular features at Downing Street’s daily press conferences, has revealed she had coronavirus.
The deputy chief medical officer for England told ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Thursday, “I found it a very unpleasant experience.
“I wasn’t well at all.
“I didn’t necessarily have some of the clear respiratory symptoms and I think it’s always useful as a doctor, it’s a good dose of medicine for us to experience things and to know how other people feel.
“I was probably off for about 10 days. I knew I was unwell.
“The offness had more to do with the fact I hadn’t been eating and was generally quite frail.”
The Prime Minister spoke to the Queen on Wednesday night by telephone, his spokesman has confirmed.
Boris Johnson is currently recovering from coronavirus, spoke to the monarch from his official country residence, Chequers.
Johnson’s official spokesman said, “He spoke with the First Secretary of State, Dominic Raab on Wednesday, and he had an audience of Her Majesty the Queen by telephone last night.”
