Alton Towers operator Merlin slapped with £5m fine over ride crash

Merlin Entertainment admits safety breach

Alton Towers operator Merlin Entertainments has been slapped with a £5m for its safety breaches over The Smiler rollercoaster crash that happened in June last year.

The crash led to two girls needing leg amputations among the 16 people who were injured.

The news comes after Merlin admitted breaching the Health and Safety Act In April this year.
