The chaos starts

Bank holiday chaos has already started Friday morning as many passengers were told they will have to fly without their luggage due a system fault.

This passenger was told that they will have no luggage for their “48-hour wedding anniversary trip.”

A spokeswoman for Gatwick airport said: “We currently have a problem with our baggage system and some flights are departing without bags.”

“They’ll go to their destinations and airline staff will be working to reunite passengers with their baggage at the earliest opportunity.”
