Parts of the UK to be hit with heavy ‘rain and snow’

A yellow weather warning has been issued for  parts of the UK for heavy “rain and snow” with the mercury falling to as low as -10C in Scotland.

Next week temperatures will expected to plummet to -4C in Wales and -6C in northern England and Scotland.

The Met warning reads, “Rain and snow has the potential to cause disruption in places, mainly to travel, with snow focused over high ground.”

The alert is in place for the north east of Scotland for Tuesday from midnight to noon.

“There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected,” the alert added.

“There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

“Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

“Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”

The statement added, “There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.”
