Maurice Robinson, 25 who was accused over the deaths of 39 immigrants, has pleaded guilty to plotting to assist illegal immigration.
The bodies of 31 males and eight females were found dead on 23 October in an industrial park in Grays, Essex.
Robinson has been accused of being part of a global smuggling ring, he was charged with manslaughter of the 39 who died.
Robinson appeared via video link from HMP Belmarsh at the Old Bailey for his plea hearing. The charge stated the he plotted with other to do “an act or series of acts which facilitated the commission of a breach of immigration law by various persons.”
Robinson was not asked to enter any pleas over the 39 counts of manslaughter.
