Thomas Cook are to open a new boutique hotel this week in Chania on the Greek Island of Crete on Saturday and acccording to reports it is, in a bid to reassure customers over their finances.
Peter Fankhauser, chief executive said the company are focused on “giving customers a great holiday.”
The travel operator has already sold 70% of available rooms at the hotel and this is one of 20 own brand hotels to open throughout 2019.
On Monday shares dropped another 13% and stock was down by 55% over the last week.
The embattled travel firm has suffered a drop in demand for package holidays due to intense online competition.
Fankhauser said, “It may be a tough environment for holiday companies but it’s a paradise for customers who can get really great value offers for this summer.
“My focus is giving customers a great holiday this summer, and our new Crete Casa Cook is just one of 20 hotels we’re opening this year to help us do just that.”
