Putin’s war in Ukraine branded a ‘complete strategic failure’

The Finnish President has branded Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine a “complete strategic failure” and through his own actions, the Russian dictator has expanded NATO on to Russia’s border.

Alexander Stubb told a panel at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland that as a direct result of Putin’s barbaric and bloody war in Ukraine it has strengthened Europe with investing more into defence.

Stubb said, “This war has become a complete strategic failure for Vladimir Putin.

“He expanded Nato, he made Ukraine European, and he forced European states to increase their defence budgets. And now we are asking ourselves whether we are capable of defending ourselves. My answer is yes.”

He added, “I think we are actually in the process of creating a stronger Nato than we have seen since the Cold War ended.

“This is effectively Nato 3.0.”

The Finnish President said that the Russian economy is crippled, and this year inflation in the country could hit 30% in 2026.

He added, “There is no growth, no reserves, and no ability to pay soldiers once the war is over.”
