Liberal Democrats will look to elect a new leader after Jo Swinson lost her seat in parliament to the SNP by 149 votes in Thursday’s general election.
Party President, Sal Brinton, said in a statement: “In the weeks ahead we will elect a new leader and our party will continue to be the rallying point for anyone who believes in a country where everyone has the chance to get on in life,”
With nearly all the results in, the Liberal Democrats gained 11 seats despite gains in the vote share, up more than 4% from the last election to 11.5%.
