Liberal Democrats will look to elect a new leader after Jo Swinson lost her seat in parliament to the SNP by 149 votes in Thursday’s general election.

Party President, Sal Brinton, said in a statement: โ€œIn the weeks ahead we will elect a new leader and our party will continue to be the rallying point for anyone who believes in a country where everyone has the chance to get on in life,โ€

With nearly all the results in, the Liberal Democrats gained 11 seats despite gains in the vote share, up more than 4% from the last election to 11.5%.
