It is expected today that the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps it to remove Portugal from the Uk’s “red list” as the country has seen a sharp fall in cases.

Brits could be enjoying holidays in the Algarve once again later this year as the red list status is set to be removed.

It is not understood if the Azores and that Madeira Islands will also be removed the UK’s red list.

Under Boris Johnson’s current roadmap to ease England out of the lockdown, he has previously said that 17 May will be the earliest date that Brits will be allowed to go on holiday.

Currently under the law Brits are not legally allowed to leave England for holidays, but are allowed to leave the country for work.
