The government are seeking investors with very deep pockets for the Sizewell C nuclear power plant in Suffolk.

The government want investors who have “substantial experience” with delivering large infrastructure projects, but ideally those who know about nuclear projects.

French energy giant EDF and the government are both investing in Sizewell to the tune of around £20 billion, but now need more investors.

Companies who fail the governments “strict national security checks” will not be allowed to invest in the nuclear power plant.

The Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary Claire Coutinho said on Monday, “Investing in Sizewell C is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the UK’s nuclear revival – delivering clean, reliable and affordable power for generations to come.

“This project will create thousands of jobs, power six million homes and will boost our energy security.

“We are focused on securing good value for taxpayers and look forward to seeing strong and competitive bids to be a part of this exciting project.”
