The statue on Parliament Square was boxed up a desecrated with graffiti during the Black Lives Matter protestors.

Other statues in London were also boxed up such as Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, plus the Cenotaph, were also boarded up.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said it “would not be a great look” for Sir Winston’s statue to be covered up during the French President’s visit.

Home Secretary Priti Patel told the Daily Mail: “We should free Churchill, a hero of our nation, who fought against fascism and racism in this country and Europe.”
