Latest figures have revealed that coronavirus cases across London has now reached 3,267 in the seven days to 26 September.

This is up from 2,865 in the seven days to 24 September, and there were more than 500 people testing positive for the virus for three days between 22 and 24 September.

It is strongly believed that the true level of infections across the capital is far higher due to a shortage in testing.

Professor Kevin Fenton, London director for Public Health England warned there is a “rising tide” of coronavirus infections across the capital.

He said, “We are seeing a rising tide of Covid-19 infections in London.

“We must act now and pull together to do our bit and help reverse this trend.”
