According to Sky News fully vaccinated people will not legally have to take a Covid test if they are pinged by the NHS app to avoid self-isolation from 16 August.
The government had initially said that from 16 August those who are double jabbed would be required to take a test to leave isolation, should they come into contact with a positive person.
Now the government will only encourage people to take a test rather than it be compulsory, unless an person develops Covid symptoms.
Boris Johnson was asked on Wednesday if it is certain that fully vaccinated people would be able to escape from self-isolation if they come into contact with someone who is infected.
Johnson told LBC, “August 16 is nailed on, there has never been any question of a review date for August 16.
“I’m very pleased that this is a country that now has the highest proportion of vaccinated adults of any country in the world, that is enabling us to make the economic progress we are.”
