Another month, another Twitter blunder by David Cameron.
Last month, the PM’s official Twitter account was found to be following an escort agency. In September, he marked as favourite a tweet posted by an offensive username with an image of Lord Tebbit in the aftermath of the Brighton bombing.
And now, Cameron’s come under fire for a picture of himself with Little Ant and Dec that was posted on his Twitter account while he paid tributes to Nelson Mandela in a debate in the House of Commons.
With Little Ant & Little Dec ahead of a tough #TextSantainterview. You can see it on Dec 20 @ITVTextSanta pic.twitter.com/ZU9cIqwolI
— David Cameron (@David_Cameron) December 9, 2013
The tweet read: “With Little Ant & Little Dec ahead of a tough £TextSanta interview.”
Twitter users were up in arms about the PM’s tweet.
User Kate Devlin tweeted: “Shd this have been tweeted as PM listened to Mandela tributes? “@David_Cameron: With Little Ant & Little Dec ahead of a tough #TextSanta int”
Labour councillor Alasdair Ross wrote: “So House of Parliament paying tribute to Mandela – with great speech by @Ed-Miliband – and Cameron is tweeting about Little Ant and Dec!”
In particularly bad timing, Cameron’s latest Twitter gaffe comes just days after he hailed technology as a key driver for London’s growth at the Tech City’s third anniversary.
